BerndReini Posted April 30, 2015 Share #21 Posted April 30, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) John, you are getting it confused with compressed DNG. The MM will only do uncompressed DNG, but it does JPEG.
Advertisement Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Hi BerndReini, Take a look here Elliott - the Leica Monochrom (typ 246). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
IkarusJohn Posted April 30, 2015 Share #22 Posted April 30, 2015 John, you are getting it confused with compressed DNG. The MM will only do uncompressed DNG, but it does JPEG. Ah, you're right. I have my camera set to DNG only. I'd forgotten you could still have JPEGs.
thrid Posted May 1, 2015 Share #23 Posted May 1, 2015 Very nice. I've been looking forward to this camera for a long time. Without the color filter it should hit about 14 stops, which is pretty spectacular. Maybe later this year....
fore Posted May 1, 2015 Share #24 Posted May 1, 2015 Jono, do you know if they increased the max shutter speed in the 246?
chris_tribble Posted May 1, 2015 Share #25 Posted May 1, 2015 Nice one! But don't forget, even if you by the new 246 it won't automatically let you take pictures like Jono
adli Posted May 1, 2015 Share #26 Posted May 1, 2015 Nice one! But don't forget, even if you by the new 246 it won't automatically let you take pictures like Jono No? I will cancel my order!

fore Posted May 2, 2015 Share #28 Posted May 2, 2015 Jono, do you know if they increased the max shutter speed in the 246? man, a simple yes or no would've worked...
algrove Posted May 2, 2015 Share #29 Posted May 2, 2015 I'm not Jono, but it's just like the M-P with 4K max. They will not go to 8k until after computer monitors go to 8K. Just joking around to keep it light. I believe camera body photos should show the shutter speed dial or the specs on the Leica site. Edward Louis Marit Posted May 2, 2015 Share #30 Posted May 2, 2015 I think I will be keeping my old one for a long time, sensor issues notwithstanding as I asked the retail price of the new one and was told $9300.00 That's a 3k increase over the cost of the original here when it was introduced. Jeff S Posted May 2, 2015 Share #32 Posted May 2, 2015 I think I will be keeping my old one for a long time, sensor issues notwithstanding as I asked the retail price of the new one and was told $9300.00 That's a 3k increase over the cost of the original here when it was introduced. Are you confusing US and Canadian dollars? The new MM is $500 less in the US compared to the original at introduction, and $9300 Canadian ($7650 US) is about the same as the US price ($7450) for the new one. Edward Louis Marit Posted May 3, 2015 Share #33 Posted May 3, 2015 Nope not confused. I was quoted $9300.00 cdn I remember paying $6200 cdn in November 2012 for the old one. Possibly it was $7200 - would have to look at the receipt. Regardless the Canadian dollar was worth about 25% more then.
Jeff S Posted May 3, 2015 Share #34 Posted May 3, 2015 Well, the currencies were close to equal back then, and the US retail for the MM was just under $8000. Bad timing, perhaps. Jeff
Edward Louis Marit Posted May 3, 2015 Share #35 Posted May 3, 2015 I am pretty sure I didn't pay 7900 U.S. But then again I don't really remember.... I don't really "need" the new one and in a couple of years the currency will go up again so I will worry about it then., when my sensor corrodes again.
