palmskov Posted May 17, 2007 Share #1 Posted May 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I found that using the leica thin leather strap with the M8, the screws that hold the strap might scratch the body or worse the lcd screen. However by wrapping a piece of tesa canvas tape around these screws prevent any damage. I works well and is a cheap solution. Besides carrying a roll of tape in the camera bag is handy... Joe Mondello Posted May 17, 2007 Share #2 Posted May 17, 2007 I already found out the same thing with the wide strap. Leica really should do this better IMO. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/digital-forum/23408-hu-leica-wide-strap-can-scratch.html

lars_bergquist Posted May 18, 2007 Share #6 Posted May 18, 2007 I had to make do with leather camera straps during the 1940s and 1950s. Thank God this is no longer the case. My M8 rides on a wide Domke strap. Leather straps are inflexible, dry out and break suddenly if they are flexed repeatedly at the same place. Leather takes up damp and tend to mold. Synthetic webbing is the only good material for straps for working cameras. The old man from the Age of Roll Film Folders in Leather Cases
