Jim-St Posted May 10, 2015 Share #61 Posted May 10, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) The main new features in LR 6 / CC don't really work with digital Leicas as they seem to rely on getting the right Exif data, which is not possible as the Leicas only estimate the aperture (even if you have a 6-bit coded lens). This makes the HDR feature unusable, for example. The HDR feature works well in combination with in-camera bracketing on my M9, as the bracketing function overrides the camera's whimsical guesswork re f/stop numbers and gives all bracketed shots the same f/stop number. There is an issue with the latter in "Merge to Pano" that I have outlined in another thread in this forum, but it should not apply to HDR. As I recall the M8 did not have a bracketing setting so you'd have to use a manual shutter-speed adjustment to get shots for HDR-merging from it. In that case, Merge to HDR may have problems if the camera has guessed different f/stops for the different shots, and so you would need to use LensTagger to assign identical f/stops to the shots in question. LR6 (and ACR9) will then be able to process for HDR Hope this helps Jim

Bobitybob Posted May 14, 2015 Share #62 Posted May 14, 2015 A number of people have asked if you can use an unused TAN for LR6, the answer for me was YES. Further details in the Customer Forum.
jchfriis Posted May 23, 2015 Share #63 Posted May 23, 2015 After multiple log-ins and log-outs on the Adobe site, I finally managed to buy the upgrade. I must say that Adobe has one of the most counter-intuitive websites I've ever seen. Why on earth do they make it so difficult to give them money? It could be that I'm an expat and live 50/50 in two different countries, but I've seldom been so frustrated trying to spend my money. Oh, hold on, Ebay is just as bad. Jeff S Posted May 23, 2015 Share #64 Posted May 23, 2015 Why on earth do they make it so difficult to give them money? For LR6, they buried the discounted standalone upgrade cost on the site….probably hoping that folks pay full boat…and the cloud, which is much more visible. Third party suppliers, e.g., B&H, did not even list the discounted upgrade as a purchase option. A money grab, IMCO (in my cynical opinion). terrycym Posted May 26, 2015 Share #65 Posted May 26, 2015 The only advantage for LR6 over 5 for me is the updated camera/lens profiles. I don't see the point of the new HDR feature - there are so few controls. I'd much rather blend in Photoshop and tone map in Photomatix There's a new stitching feature which is a bit of a toy too compared to PTGui LR6 does take longer to load compared to LR5 but once it's loaded, I see no difference in performance I did spot an issue with the on-line help within the 1st couple of days. looks like Adobe spotted that too necessitating them needing an update within a week. So, unless you need the new lens profiles, you're better off sticking with LR5
