Advertisement Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Hi david_choy58, Take a look here Firmware 1.102 Shutter Sound. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
carstenw Posted May 17, 2007 Share #2 Posted May 17, 2007 Two separate events (shutter curtain related) which used to be done together are now done apart, so you hear them clearer. It shouldn't be louder though, just different. Could that be it?
david_choy58 Posted May 17, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted May 17, 2007 Yeah, that's probably it. Just not used to the new sound. After I upgraded to 1.102 and my first shot surprised me. The sound is so different. Wonder why Leica changed the setting.....
billh Posted May 17, 2007 Share #4 Posted May 17, 2007 Yeah, that's probably it. Just not used to the new sound. After I upgraded to 1.102 and my first shot surprised me. The sound is so different. .. What else is different? I still have not changed because mine is working OK (terrible WB aside) and it is too noisy as it is. I ordered the 1D3 and am looking forward with considerable curiosity to comparing the silent mode of this camera with the M8.
carstenw Posted May 17, 2007 Share #5 Posted May 17, 2007 The new setup is meant to be more accurate. I am not sure what inaccuracy Leica was fighting there. It is not louder, just different, is the consensus.
arthury Posted May 17, 2007 Share #6 Posted May 17, 2007 It's funny, I didn't even notice the difference ... may be it's because I did not pay attention to the sound before the upgrade. Whatever it is, it's not an M6 or MP or M7 ... but I would think it will last longer

Comparing it with an SLR, it may even seem louder to the photographer, but I think it's queiter for the victim
