euston Posted April 14, 2015 Share #1 Posted April 14, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am delighted to see the photo size limits raised to 500kb and 1280px but I am disappointed to note that the file size limit now applies per post, not per photo as previously. This seems to me to be a backward step and a deterrent to posting a set of photos in one post, which is something I and many others sometimes like to do. From now on, any photos we post together as a set will be limited to a file size smaller than the previous limit of 300. That is why I call it a backward step. Of course, it is possible to upload a sequence of several photos in separate posts but I don't think that is usually as effective as posting them as a set in the same post. Is there an insuperable practical reason for the new per post limit? If not, I am asking that it be changed back to a per photo limit. By the way, the new pixel size limit should also get a mention in the FAQ and wherever else permissible image sizes are defined.
Advertisement Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Hi euston, Take a look here Why are photo sets now discouraged?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted April 14, 2015 Share #2 Posted April 14, 2015 I am sure it's not the case that photosets are discouraged, merely the way that the software is currently configured. There used to be a limit of 10 images per post, with the limit of 600kb per image. While I would never normally post 10 images in a single post, it was most useful when uploading the Challenge thread. I am sure that this is something that Andreas can look into - it will take a while for the new forum software to be tweaked to make it all as comfortable as the previous system. euston Posted April 14, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted April 14, 2015 OK, I'll log it as an unintended consequence and look forward to the issue being dealt with in due course.

pop Posted April 14, 2015 Share #6 Posted April 14, 2015 ...the new pixel size limit should also get a mention in the FAQ ... Thanks, the FAQ have been changed to reflect the new size.
A miller Posted April 21, 2015 Share #7 Posted April 21, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) i share the OP's sentiment. For a premium member, the max photo info has gone from 600kb X 10 to 1000kb X 1. Odd, indeed.
euston Posted June 9, 2015 Author Share #8 Posted June 9, 2015 The new per post size limit for images is still in force. It's now 8 weeks since I raised the matter. Has there been any progress on reviewing the situation?
k-hawinkler Posted June 9, 2015 Share #9 Posted June 9, 2015 Well, I have managed up to a limit of 10 500KB images each per post. However, one cannot post them directly but has to link to them, say from smugmug. So, there is a workaround for the OP's issue. The limit indeed seems to be 10. I tried 11, but that is not supported. euston Posted June 12, 2015 Author Share #10 Posted June 12, 2015 Many thanks K-H. I wasn’t sure that this was an approved method of posting images but I’ve just tried it and it works just fine.
Rolo Posted July 2, 2015 Share #11 Posted July 2, 2015 The advice on file size at the top of each photo page remains without update. gary
jaapv Posted July 20, 2015 Share #12 Posted July 20, 2015 It is possible to upload an unlimited number of images, as long as one uploads one image per post. A bit tedious, and it does increase the post count, but it works.
euston Posted July 21, 2015 Author Share #13 Posted July 21, 2015 It is possible to upload an unlimited number of images, as long as one uploads one image per post. A bit tedious, and it does increase the post count, but it works. Obviously but, as I said in my opening post, that is not always as effective as posting a set of photos together. I understand that the site owner is looking into the matter. I expect he'll get around to dealing with it in due course or let us know why the per photo size limit can't be restored. euston Posted March 17, 2016 Author Share #15 Posted March 17, 2016 Are we any closer to a resolution of this issue? But answer came there none. Here’s a photoset tip I’ve just discovered. I haven’t seen it mentioned before so it may be new to some forum members. If you post a photoset in a single post and then click on one of the images to dim the background, you can activate next and previous buttons to take you to adjacent photos. Just position the cursor on the left or right of the image. Here’s a screen grab that illustrates the feature taken from a recent post of mine comprising three shots: Welcome, dear visitor!
