limedbk Posted April 8, 2015 Share #1 Posted April 8, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, My rangefinder is abit off. Anyone knows how to open the top cover up to tune the rangefinder? I have done it with my canon canonet Q19 and made adjustments, but do not know how to open the top of my Leica M8.2. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks. I like to DIY. Thought of sending to Leica, but would like to try it myself. The superimposing seems to be off. bk

adan Posted April 8, 2015 Share #2 Posted April 8, 2015 You don't need to open it up!! The RF is adjusted for distance accuracy right at the lever/cam/roller inside the round lens mount (just take the lens off). http://www.berndmargotte.com/technical/objektivkodierung/_MG_7303_810px.jpg I won't go into the details, since they are well documented on the web - but mostly it involves adjusting the roller centering (it is on an eccentric shaft) with a hex wrench. The RF is adjusted for vertical alignment of the two RF images by way of removing the red logo on the front, and twiddling something through a hole in the logo mounting depression (requires a special tool, I believe). http://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5082/5259250497_2d55d9c6dd_z.jpg
