Hi,

Does anyone have an issue with the power switch? My M cannot be turned off.

Single frame and Multiple frames work, but not the self timer and the off.

Other than that everything works... really odd problem.

End of last year mine developed a problem with the power switch. On/off and single frame ok, multiple frame and self timer blocked. Wait since the beginning of December on my M240 :(

jaques, did Leica replace your camera under the warranty?

Did they try to fix it?

Mine still under warranty, so getting a new camera would be better....I hope.

The camera was brand new... First they tried to fix it- I sent it from Australia back to Solms- it came back to me supposedly fixed- first shot- let me repeat- first shot- the self timer actuated again. It was actually a very annoying issue as it was totally random- the camera would work perfectly for any number of frames then suddenly the self timer would actuate. It is possible that when it was at Solms it functioned perfectly... So I asked for a replacement- and got it! I heard afterwards that this issue had been seen on several cameras and was a known fault.

One thing I noticed: on the first camera the power switch was quite loose feeling- turning very easily. On the second it was stiffer with firmer indents... I believe it was a mechanical issue in the switch itself,

Well, let see what Leica US can do to fix it.

I bought it from BH photo video, although I'm not sure I can ask them for a replacement..

Mine is not random, the camera simply cannot be turned off at all. At least I know the camera works except for the switch.

Jaques, you are right, the switch does feel pretty loose compared to the first time I use it. Maybe there is a defect on the contact point or some loose screws somewhere.

Although I'm still cannot believe that one of the most important button is failing within a year...

In the mean time my 8 years old M8 still work flawlessly.
