First Leica, Kitted Out

I upgraded from the venerable Fuji X100s to a Leica M 240 with Summarit 35mm f/2.5 lens and finally have all the accessories I wanted.

  • Gordy's leather wrist strap (website)
  • Match Technical Bip-O soft release (website)
  • (fake) Thumbs Up (eBay)
  • E39 Vented lens hood (eBay Item)

The Thumbs Up knock-off is only $33 but I wouldn't recommend it. I had to use some duct tape in the hot shoe to secure it in place as it was so loose, not to mention the paint quality is quite terrible. One day I will bother to spend the money on a real one but right now "it does the trick".

The lens hood on the other hand is very well finished, looking almost exactly like the Leica black finish! Only $10, instead of $200, who would have thought. Recommend this one for those on a tight budget and who don't need a filter thread (it uses the inside thread unfortunately).

The Bip-O is great because it stays in place with the o-ring, but I may get the large one instead.

The Gordy's wrist strap is great quality as you probably know.

I also have a little sticky furniture pad thing on the front where my middle finger rests on the body. Helps!

Should be no vignetting problem using a standard filter with front threads, plus the hood.
