When importing from the card the tiles are quite small and it is not easy to review and select DNGs that should not be imported. Simply because what you see in the tile preview is not very detailed. peterbengtson Posted February 22, 2015 Share #3 Posted February 22, 2015 Import all files and let Lightroom build it's own previews which will be of better quality. You can then delete whatever you don't want. I personally save all master files until I can review and reflect on them at a later date, sometimes you find something you did not notice at first review. Even then, I don't delete much, which fosters learning and encourages more thoughtful and deliberate shooting. Storage is cheap. 571514M3 Posted February 23, 2015 Author Share #6 Posted February 23, 2015 Thanks. Yes, storage is cheap. Workflow is about efficiency and effectiveness. I prefer to not like wasting time. Now, film is like downloading all DNGs but digital generates more images. I like to do limit what is downloaded to what I work with later. The screen on my 240 basically used to delete images, otherwise it is off. It is probably not needed (yes, I would buy a M-P without screen . It would be nice to just scroll through the images pre-import and only select what I want. With a film strip that is very quick. Having a SD card and looking at it in Finder is also quick. Beats me why this is not possible in LR. Those vague previews are quite annoying. Digital life could be more efficient, that is, less complicated. No? jaapv Posted February 23, 2015 Share #7 Posted February 23, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am a bit puzzled here, the preview thumbnails in LR are the same as elsewhere. You can customize Lightroom to display a grid and/or a filmstrip and the size of the thumbnails. Only users have become more impatient and sloppy. Use camera for shooting, not editing. Look at everything. Learn PP techniques* (that have become more flexible and efficient digitally). Simple.
