atournas Posted February 21, 2015 Share #1 Posted February 21, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I recently shot four films, two medium-format and two small-format. Then, I had them processed and scanned and, when examined them, I decided to print one photograph from the medium-format lot and two from the other. I was very happy with the yield. That was a hundred shots. Had I returned home with a hundred digital images and compelled to keep only three, I would have felt somewhat incompetent. What might that mean, I wonder. Advertisement Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Hi atournas, Take a look here A yield with a meaning?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
250swb Posted February 21, 2015 Share #2 Posted February 21, 2015 I think your hit rate is perfectly normal for somebody who has the ability to edit their pictures and show good judgement. But I don't think it should change for digital and if you aren't chimping I would expect the hit rate to be on average the same if the equipment is equal. It is true that medium format can give you more time to think in the way that most people use it (with a tripod etc.), so you might find a few more successful shots due to better concentration on the scene, but I'm happy to get one picture per roll of 120 and I'm not unhappy if I get none every now and again, it could have been 'one of those days' or a day to experiment a bit.
