jinkster Posted February 20, 2015 Share #1 Posted February 20, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have just purchased a Leica 109. I am currently looking at cases for it. I really like the half case however, is it practical? Will the camera fall out if it is tipped upside down? Thanks in advance for any comments. ayewing Posted February 20, 2015 Share #2 Posted February 20, 2015 Welcome to the forum. You have made agood choice of the D-Lux typ109. I do not have the half case but you might find this thread interesting if you have not seen it yet. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-d-lux-digilux-v-lux/354895-how-you-going-take-your-leica.html#post2830057
jcraf Posted February 20, 2015 Share #3 Posted February 20, 2015 I have recently acquired a DLux. My thoughts turned to the Leica half case mainly to improve grip (it's a bit of a slippery camera...) and secondarily to protect it. Now I'm a half case fan (first accessory I bought for my M240P recently). But actually, I ended up buying the DLux grip, which costs significantly less than the half case (in the UK £55 vs £80), improves the feel no end, and protects the base of the camera (OK, the case protects the ends as well, but the base is the main wear point imho). Both need to be removed to access the battery and card, so they are equal in that respect. I know that wasn't your question, but I offer an alternative view.............. wda Posted February 28, 2015 Share #4 Posted February 28, 2015 The handgrip transforms the handling of this solid little camera. The half-case is a half and half solution: neither a firm grip nor full protection. For the price, it is worth trying the Leica handgrip.
