gylee Posted May 14, 2007 Share #1  Posted May 14, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I would like to get a CV 15 and think it would be a good idea to use a dedicated body.  I had thought about a Voigtlander Bessa of some description but to be honest, I just don't like them.  Given that the CV 15 is not rangefinder coupled and given that I will need to use an external finder anyway, can anyone tell me if there is any reason why I could not pick up a good Leica MD or MD-2 (which can be had pretty cheaply and from the few that I have seen, always seem to be in good condition which probably reflects the way they were used - ie indoors in a lab) and use that as a dedicated wide-angle body?  I accept that I will need an external meter of some sort.  Thanks  G. gylee Posted May 14, 2007 Author Share #3 Â Posted May 14, 2007 OK - lets keep it between ourselves then. Don't want to drive up prices on those used MDs...

brunom Posted May 14, 2007 Share #5  Posted May 14, 2007 Gordon  Why not use a CL ? that's what I do with my 12mm CV, and I am very pleased with it, as it has metering and can be used 'normally' when required.  Bruno
luigi bertolotti Posted May 14, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted May 14, 2007 MD (or even M1) is a good idea, MDa are not so common, seems to me. But, unless you are ideologically "Wetzlar and no other" I also would suggest a CL: compact, fine with the CV, meter is nice to have anyway, and by less than a MD you buy body + Summicron 40, a very good lens tipically absent from a traditional "M centered" equipment... and I have seen that 'Cron 40 is appreciated also on the M8...
