Antonio Russell Posted February 24, 2015 Share #21 Â Posted February 24, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am not tempted by any of them. For the same price you can buy a very nice second hand Summicron. Â There doesn't seem to be any advantage to buying the Summaries, they are larger and not exactly cheap. Had they made them significantly smaller or cheaper I could see a point but they just seem to be too limited for me personally.
Advertisement Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Hi Antonio Russell, Take a look here Which of the new Summarit 2.4 lenses appeals to you?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Chronomania Posted February 27, 2015 Share #22 Â Posted February 27, 2015 The summarit 35 and 50 (2.5... i have yet to test the 2.4) are in my opinion superior to the summicrons : lest vignetting, sharper in the corner, more subtle colors and contrast. So, if your are not afraid of their lower prices, they are really a great choice. Ok, summicrons are a half stop brighter but in real life that does not make any difference (you have to buy a Summilux to make a difference). That is why I sold both my summicron 50 V and summicron 35 asph & IV to keep only the summarits.
Keith (M) Posted March 1, 2015 Share #23  Posted March 1, 2015 This thread prompted me to unearth my very much underused 75mm f2.5 and the results have me somewhat kicking myself for not using it more often. Partly that is due to it becoming a little long/cumbersome when the hood is screwed-on. A pity it does not have a sliding hood similar to my Elmarit-M 90mm f2.8.  M7, Portra 400. Gibbo Posted March 13, 2015 Share #25 Â Posted March 13, 2015 Thanks to Ivor at Red Dot Cameras I have just received my brand new 75 f2.4 Summarit. It's the first brand new lens I have bought and I'm in that 'in love'zone at the moment! Â It looks great on my M, both silver, and I'm looking forward to having a proper play with it once I'm more up and about (been home from hospital for two days)! Kieth, it is one of my favourite lenses and has never disappointed me. It is great when you need just a little more camera to subject separation. My lens hood remains mounted except when packed for travel when I reverse it over the lens to save space. Once on location, I restore it to its normal shooting position. Mornnb Posted March 14, 2015 Share #27 Â Posted March 14, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is there any difference in performance between the 2.4 and 2.5 Summarits for 35 and 50? There are not a whole lot of reviews on these lenses. In any event I love my 35mm Summarit 2.5. Though the sharpness is nothing extraordinary, the colour and contrast is. TomB_tx Posted March 14, 2015 Share #28 Â Posted March 14, 2015 Should be the same optics between the 2.5 and 2.4 versions. (Puts noted the speed of the 50 2.5 was closer to 2.4) probably no more difference than between two 2.5 lenses due to sample variations. I prefer th 39mm filter thread of the 2.5, and loved the handling and results of my 35 enough that I bought a 50 2.5 while I still could.
dsalamena Posted March 28, 2015 Share #29 Â Posted March 28, 2015 Hi, Â I'm thinking of buying a small set of 2 lenses, namely the 35 and 75 Summarit. I've decided to go for the silver version of the 35mm (it looks very nice indeed), but I'm not sure about the 75mm. I would prefer to complete the set buying the silver version, but the black plastic rubber looks a bit strange from the pictures I found on line. Has anyone had the opportunity to look at these lenses in person (black and silver)? I currently have an M-E camera and, generally speaking, a preference for chrome Leica cameras. Thanks
fussgangerfoto Posted March 28, 2015 Share #30  Posted March 28, 2015 When the 2.4's came out, I had just sold my CV 35 1.4, so I opted for the 35 f/2.4 Summarit. Beautiful lens. Not long after, I stumbled upon a 35mm v4 Summicron, so I jumped on that. I've still not sorted out whether I need to keep both. Perhaps I need to do a side-by-side, but for now, I've got the 35 'cron paired with the Monochrom and the 35 f/2.4 on the M(240). Welcome, dear visitor! dsalamena Posted March 29, 2015 Share #31 Â Posted March 29, 2015 Thanks for the picture. I really like the look of the Silver version of the 35 Summarit and, for what I read, its quality is comparable to the Summicron Asph. I'm not so convinced of the look of the silver 75 Summarit though... that black plastic rubber on silver chrome makes me wonder if a black version would be a better solution on the long term.
