Augustdresser Posted February 6, 2015 Share #1 Posted February 6, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does anyone know what markings were on the early Pamoo 90-degree magnifiers that were made to go on Ploot reflex-housings? I believe that the early production of these magnifiers were not marked on their metal surfaces with "E Leitz Wetzlar" or "Leitz" but instead had an inscription around the ocular/eyepiece. I find no writings on this subject now..........but I recall seeing something on this subject in the past.....???????? I don't find much at all on the subject of the Ploot. I wish that there was a serial number list somewhere.
Advertisement Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Hi Augustdresser, Take a look here Leitz Pamoo/Ploot. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
luigi bertolotti Posted February 6, 2015 Share #2 Posted February 6, 2015 PAMOOs without any writing in front do surely exist... I have some pictures of them in my collection of collectibles "caught on the Net" (my PAMOO, on the contrary has the "E.Leitz Wetzlar" writing.. the "lens styled" one) ; but seems to me that there isn't any engraving around the eyepiece... to be precise, I have also the picture of a PAMOO which hasn't writing on the front, and has the engraving "Ernst Leitz Wetzlar Germany" around the eyepiece... but is a strange item in hammertone finish... and the engraving is in capital letters which makes to think of a later model... maybe part of some sci/tec kit. Sully Posted February 6, 2015 Share #3 Posted February 6, 2015 Luigi, I have the same PAMOO as you described. I have no idea where it came from. I would also like to have a serial number list that tells when PLOOTS and Visos were made. I can't seem to find a list anywhere. Ciao, Sully

Ciao, Sully Just to elaborate on the matter... : This is my item, very common... the other variant, with "Leitz Wetzlar" ("Leitz" in classic Leica style, "Wetzlar" in capital) I think is later and probably less common Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! This is the variant with no writing, and classic finishing This is the "odd one" I quoted... do not remember the source (sometime, somewhere on the Net...) the finishing is clearly different and, even if it is not well visible, there is surely a "modern style" Ernest Leitz Wetzlar Germany writing around the eyepiece. It is the finishing that makes me think of some special apparatus... repro or even something for the lab... jc_braconi Posted February 7, 2015 Share #6 Posted February 7, 2015 The hammertone model is usually found in USA where they were sold with the latest reproduction focoslide I would like to present the ancestor of the PAMOO the LKIOO : Welcome, dear visitor! luigi bertolotti Posted February 7, 2015 Share #7 Posted February 7, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi JC !! I hoped you'd get into this thread... and supposed you had some untrivial item of this breed ... LKIOO... it's the model which shows the image laterally reversed, right ? Have you a picture of the eyepiece ? And... why the box specifies that it is for "reprogerat"? Doesn't it fit the PLOOT ?
jc_braconi Posted February 7, 2015 Share #8 Posted February 7, 2015 Hi Luigi, It does not fit as it is a slip-on, not a bayonet mount Welcome, dear visitor! Augustdresser Posted February 7, 2015 Author Share #9 Posted February 7, 2015 I am having a devil of a time attempting to upload photos of the Pamoo that I am wanting to know more about.........so.......I will describe it. It has a regular "crinkle" finish with no Leitz markings on the front facet (as most Pamoo that I have seen do). It has the same inscription around the ocular lens that the above-pictured "Hammer" finished unit does. Bayonet connection that fits the Ploot that I own (Nr. 6550). When I attach my 1937 200mm Telyt, images are inverted. Printed pages can be read clearly....but they are upside-down. Thank you for your replies to my question. I need to give serious contemplation to that which is required to succeed at posting images on this site. Haven't had this problem elsewhere....????
