Jwhaley Posted February 5, 2015 Share #1 Posted February 5, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does anyone know where to get this lens hood. It is a 43mm but if you look closely you can see that is steps out immediately after the threaded area to a much wider hood. Much wider than the 43mm screw in vented lens hoods on eBay and amazon. The guy who posted this pic is Japanese and i have been unable to communicate with him. please note that it is not a step up adapter and then a larger lens hood. it is actually a 43mm screw in type. He also uses this hood on his Leica X. Any help with this will be appreciated. Welcome, dear visitor! If you want it to be much wider, maybe you will have to Do what I did, my X113 is also 43mm so I had To use a 43-52mm step-up ring which has a very low profile maybe 3 mm -won't even notice it- and then a 52mm wide angle lens hood with a diameter of 58mm. Fits and looks great. Besides, the picture is a little tricky, from that angle the hood looks way more wide than it really is, from the top it is basically the same width as the lens. rivi1969 Posted February 6, 2015 Share #3 Posted February 6, 2015 And this is the top shot to compare the visual "wide hood effect" from the other picture. Welcome, dear visitor! Keith (M) Posted February 6, 2015 Share #4 Posted February 6, 2015 The hood 18774 for my X-Vario appears to have a 43mm thread (quick & dirty measurement with a plastic rule!). Admittedly it is a very expensive accessory, though
rpsawin Posted February 6, 2015 Share #5 Posted February 6, 2015 Look at CameraQuest.com and the hoods available for the lenses with 43mm threads.
yoshitsugu.goto Posted February 7, 2015 Share #6 Posted February 7, 2015 Which site you found that lens hood? I may try to find as I am Japanese. Also, I am interested in that hood as well for my X vario.
Jwhaley Posted February 7, 2015 Author Share #7 Posted February 7, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yoshitsugu I did find the lens hood. It is on Amazon in Japan. But I do not speak Japanese so I couldn't make my way around the site very well. But once I was able to find it I was unable to purchase it because they do not ship internationally. If you look at Tumblr and search for user LeicaX you will find the guy who has this filter.

Jwhaley Posted February 8, 2015 Author Share #11 Posted February 8, 2015 Pelikan I was able to find it on the japanese version of Amazon. The issue I had was that they would not ship internationally to the U.S. The 43mm hoods on eBay are not wide enough. This is the only one I have seen that is 43mm and still wide enough. Yoshitsugu were you able to get anywhere with it?
pelikanblueocean Posted February 8, 2015 Share #12 Posted February 8, 2015 I live in UK and I have an account in Japan who provides service to receive goods from web shop who send within Japan forward to outside to Japan. They will charge some handling fee and shipping cost to overseas. If you purchase something else as well, then you may have some cost merit. http://www.tenso.com/en/
dolina Posted February 14, 2015 Share #13 Posted February 14, 2015 I noticed that Amazon.com has the 43mm lens hoods.
