stunsworth Posted May 13, 2007 Share #1 Posted May 13, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Knott End is on the opposite bank of the river Wyre from Fleetwood in the North West of England. An overcast day which gave the flat lighting I was looking for in this shot. M8, 50mm Summicron
Advertisement Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Hi stunsworth, Take a look here Knott End ferry quay. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted May 13, 2007 Share #2 Posted May 13, 2007 I can see what you are getting at here, Steve, but I personally find the central lamp post a bit unfortunate, as it cuts the image neatly in two.
stuny Posted May 14, 2007 Share #3 Posted May 14, 2007 Steve - I like it, even with the central lamp post (though it would probably be even better without). Very moody somehow.
JE Posted May 14, 2007 Share #4 Posted May 14, 2007 Steve, what I like here are all the lines, very nicely composed (I agree with Stuart, the photo'd probably be better without the central post). There is a beautiful silence in the photo. Jonathan
erlandson Posted May 15, 2007 Share #5 Posted May 15, 2007 The inclusion of the third post (if there is one!) at the extreme right may have been better. Ain't it easy to be clever after the moment.
leicamann Posted May 15, 2007 Share #6 Posted May 15, 2007 I can see what you are getting at here, Steve, but I personally find the central lamp post a bit unfortunate, as it cuts the image neatly in two. I am with Andy on this it does indeed segment the image into two...unfortunate... having said that...being digital..you can "walk your pictures" and reframe... until you get the desired result..this is the beauty of digital..you get immediate sensory feedback and can see your "mistake" right away. So to conclude..the "idea and concept" is sound but not the execution. Thanks for sharing Regards, Leicamann
wda Posted May 15, 2007 Share #7 Posted May 15, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Having noted the above remarks, I do see quite a bit of scope here for further variations. Assuming you have time and opportunity, why not return and experiment? As John Mead says, digital does give you a second chance while you are there. Often we pass over that opportunity.
