Leica 35 Summaron ƒ/2.8 for the Monochrom?

True, but again according to Puts the Summaron is an excellent performer and "better than the Summicron at 2.8" :D

The thing is, Puts is contradicting himself in his comments regarding the Summaron vs Summicron all the time, at least that is my impression. But see for yourself:

Puts on 2.8 Summaron (in Dennis Laney, Camera and Lens Pocket Book. 7th Edition. West Sussex 2002, p. 109)

Puts on 8 element Summicron (Leica Lens compendium, as retrieved from here)

Not that contradictory. Lens performance is a sum of parameters, of which centre sharpness is but one.

Mine lives permanently clamped to my MM. A bargain, light, small, very effective.

Indeed. My 1967 example is rarely separated from my MP ALC (0.58) as they form an ideal partnership. Compact, lightweight, excellent ergonomics and a lens full of character.

Love this lens. I'm thinking about switching to this from a 50mm Summicron (Rigid). I like to shoot with fast shutter speeds though, so what's holding me back is the 1 stop that'll be missing. I'm trying to tell myself that it won't be missed some more..

Is this your only 50? Better not give it up.
