themilkman Posted January 22, 2015 Share #1  Posted January 22, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey guys, new to this forum. I've had my Leica CL for about 6months, and she's my all around camera. Living in NYC nothing is better than having a small partner that fits in my messenger bag that leaves the weight back in the factory.  Anyway, my question for you guys is about the light leaks I have experienced since i purchase the camera 6months ago. I discovered that my rolls would experience burns on 1-2 frames per roll. Always on the same spot // the bottom middle of the image. After some further digging and trial and error, I believe the culprit was myself. As I would go on photo walks with the lens cap off. And since the shutter blades never close completely when resting, I believe the light was leaking onto the curtain and bleeding onto the film.. This  I may be completely wrong...  Has anyone experienced such a thing?  My Work: Jose Alvarado Jr. | New York City Photographer - New Work

Michael Geschlecht Posted January 22, 2015 Share #2 Â Posted January 22, 2015 Hello Jose, Â Welcome to the Forum. Â When the camera is operating properly there should be NO light leaks with or without the lens cap on. Â Is it possible that this is a camera that sat for a long time without being used? Â If that might be the case: You might try actuating the shutter a number of times at each speed setting (ie: 8 times at each speed) with no film in the camera. Then look thru the camera body from the back with the rear door off. If you see light coming thru the shutter either after the shutter is cocked or after the shutter is released then your camera might need servicing. Â Best Regards, Â Michael
