Leica R9 blocked

Yes...

You've probably checked all these already, but just in case:

(1) Insert new batteries (just in case)

(2) Check the position of the mirror lock-up switch (toggle it both ways)

(3) Check the position of the double exposure slider (slide it both ways)

(4) If there is a partially exposed fillm inside, see if you can operate the rewind button to wind it back into the cassette, then open the back and try to turn the take-up spool manually.

Can't think of anything else to try. Good luck!

If all of the above fail I fear the camera is an economic writeoff. A repair to this mechanism is usually quite expensive.

I had one with the same problem, and the Leica estimate was about 900 Euro. By all means send it in, it might- just- be something minor, but I doubt it.

Hi,

Thanks for your answers, my camera was OK after many days (?). It had worked again by itself... But I still had any problems after, I think that the R9 simply doesn't like cold at all! The battery loading indiactor always remains OK but I decided to change batteries, it alowed few minutes more but after any minutes (depending wind and temp conditions) the camera used to fail again... The temperature was between -10°C and -5°C, the wind was strong manytime and led the camera to fail more quickly...

Any other cold experiences with the R9? May a camera like the R6.2 better in this kind of conditions?
