Advertisement Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Hi jaapv, Take a look here IR converted X1?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wda Posted January 12, 2015 Share #2 Posted January 12, 2015 A curiosity indeed, Jaap. Modification linked to Spencer, whoever that might be. A new one on me, but of little interest. My unmodified M8 with IR filter works well for me. I notice that the weaker filter has been fitted. So it would not yield anything like pure IR imagery. But some users prefer that halfway stage. Depends on an individual's views about IR. An 830nm filter would likely work very well for B&W IR JPEG images straight out the camera - especially as the X1 produces excellent B&W JPEGs. I have an 830nm converted Fuji S5 and specifically chose 830nm for the conversion knowing that the camera would produce superb B&W IR JPEGs. False colour IR is of no interest to me. Unfortunately FIAP, PSA and the RPS have banned use of IR images in their sponsored exhibitions. dunk
