vincentb Posted January 12, 2015 Share #1 Â Posted January 12, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi folks, Â I noticed a little problem in my M6 classic viewfinder. Looking from the front of the camera, we can see slight traces inside the finder prism. I showed it to a camera repair and he told me it is probably the finder which is peeling off... For now, this remains invisible when you are normally shooting with the camera. Â Does anyone already faced with such problem ? Is it worrying ? Expensive to fix ? Â Thank you very much, Â Vincent

As your repairman for a quote to fix and a few others (cheaper than buying a new rangefinder).
luigi bertolotti Posted January 12, 2015 Share #3 Â Posted January 12, 2015 Is a not uncommon issue that can be also the consequence of some hit suffered byy the camera... in the worst scenario, it can bring to a completely black view, apart the central small rangefinder rectangle and the white framelines (so happened to my M2 years ago). Can be repaired but is a delicate operation to be made by expert labs... not cheap... my idea is that if you use your M6 with care, probably the problem can even not worsen and you can spare the repair : on the contrary, if it ends up in a complete "death" of the image, the substitution of the whole RF/VF assembly is the typical cure.... and luckily spares do exist and are even not too costly. Â Give a look to this page to understand the problem : http://www.angelfire.com/biz/Leica/page10.html
vincentb Posted January 12, 2015 Author Share #4 Â Posted January 12, 2015 Thank you for the answers and your wise advises. I am currently asking for a quotation in several camera repair shops. I should get it CLA'd so maybe, this will be more affordable. Â Gonna go back to you as soon as I have answers for future people who may have my issue.
