Lee6470 Posted January 7, 2015 Share #1 Â Posted January 7, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello. I will be using a Metz 32ct3 flash (with the sca351 adaptor) at the weekend, at a family gathering. This will be the first time I have used a flash on the R4, and not having had the time to do any test shots, I am wondering if any of you have any advice on which settings I should try, both on the camera and the flash? The flash has a 'ttl' mode, can I use this, or should I manually set both camera and flash? Both manuals give me no clear indication as to how 'dedicated' the set up might be! I'm starting to miss my old sb25! Thanks.

wagner Posted January 7, 2015 Share #2 Â Posted January 7, 2015 Hi Lee! Â With the R4 you can't use the TTL Mode. (The first TTL flash meetering Leica was the R5) So, just set the flash to the automatic position (3 aperture's possible if I'm not mistaken). The choosen aperture you have then to set on the lens manually. Throught the dedication the flash will set the camera automatically to the sync time (1/100sec) and this will be indicated in the viewfinder, as soon as the flash is fully charged.- over exposure symbol - And a fast flashing of the same symbol will indicate correct exposure. Â The camera will be set to the sync- time in all modes, but it probably make sense, to keep the camera in "A" mode. The - electronic -speed setting doesn't matter, the camera will always be set to the 1/100. Â There are however two speed settings on the camera, which will not be changed by the flash electronic: "100" and "B" These are the 'mechanical speeds" of the R4. (which are anyway sync times) Â I used on my R4 the Metz 36CT3 with the same adapter and it worked always perfect. Â Enjoy your party!
