asiafish Posted February 3, 2015 Share #21 Posted February 3, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I sold my X2 last month and dying to buy either one of these - X Vario or X Typ 113 or D Lux 109. After reading so many reviews and seeing many pics I've now shortlisted to either the Vario or X Typ 113. Tomorrow is my judgement day. X Vario won't fit in a pocket (obviously), but it is an exceptional camera. I recently took mine along with my Nikon Df to Hawaii and used both about equally. The X Vario did not disappoint at all. Advertisement Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Hi asiafish, Take a look here X2 or X113 or Sony RX1?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
rchrd Posted February 3, 2015 Share #22 Posted February 3, 2015 Here are the obvious features: RX1: There are some tradeoffs that come with fitting a lens with those capabilities to a full frame sensor so close together in a compact camera. Look at the flickr pictures people post. There is very noticeable barrel distortion with the RX1! If you are okay with the barrel distortion and can afford the few extra hundred bucks, get the RX1. X 113: You should get the Leica if the quality of the lens is more important to you than a full frame sensor. The way the X 113 lens handles chromatic aberrations, field curvature, barrel distortion, coma, spherical aberration, and astigmatism, is just top notch. But most people are not concerned with these subtleties of optics, nor do they notice them. Also, don't let the variable aperture criticism get to you. There is plenty of bokeh since shallow depth of field is determined by how close your subject is in comparison to the background. Since you can focus up to 0.2 meters, you'll always have plenty of subject isolation available (granted, its not f/1.2 wall of bokeh, but neither is the RX1).
