sfethan Posted December 31, 2014 Share #1 Posted December 31, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) My question is kind of rare and complicated so please bare with me, I'll try my best to explain. The frame line stick of my M9 get stuck, it doesn't switch back to its original position. I have to flip it back to where it was. and the framing line is very thin and light compare to normal M9 framelines. I found that it was caused by the lens. I have 2 summicron 50mm lenses, one of them causes the framing line and the framing stick stuck problem. not sure if anyone has the same issue as mine. Any ideas? Thank you. tobey bilek Posted December 31, 2014 Share #2 Posted December 31, 2014 Did previous owner change to non Leica mount or someone filed the lug down and it does not push the mechanism fully. I would try on another camera.
sfethan Posted December 31, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted December 31, 2014 Thanks for the quick reply. I have tried the lens on my M6, which the lens causes the same issue. The mount hasn't been changed, it is for Leica M, and I couldn't figure out if there's any lug losing issue, if it was the lug, how should I check? can I just tight it up myself? Thank you. tobey bilek Posted December 31, 2014 Share #4 Posted December 31, 2014 If it happens on two cameras, there is something wrong with the lug that signals the frame line selector, either too short or too long. Probably the best thing is to replace the mount.

250swb Posted January 4, 2015 Share #6 Posted January 4, 2015 Often people get into a bad habit or think they are being ultra careful by having their finger on the lens release button when they mount the lens, but this can cause the lens to over-rotate in the mount and bring up wrong frame lines. You should keep your finger off the lens release button and allow the lens to snap into place on the body. The other option is that the lens flange has loosened and is rotating slightly as you mount and dismount the lens. The solution is to first loosen the screws holding the lens mounting flange into the body of the lens, then very gradually re-tighten them a bit at a time until fully tight. This will re-centre the flange and make sure it sits in the correct position. Steve
