pico Posted December 28, 2014 Share #2 Posted December 28, 2014 Can anyone confirm the RRS base plate L-plate for Leica M9/M9-P will fit on the Monochrome? Yes. Whatever fits the M9 fits the Monochrom. Consider getting the grip as well. I did and like it very much.
thompsonkirk Posted December 28, 2014 Share #3 Posted December 28, 2014 The RRS L bracket is great, and I wouldn't use the camera on a tripod without it. I'm ambivalent about the grip, which doesn't fit my fingers especially well. Nevertheless for landscape photography I use L bracket plus grip plus Thumbs Up, to offset my clumsiness in setting up a tripod and juggling / changing lenses on rough terrain. With all that plus MATE / WATE with a 67mm filter holder and Frankenfinder, it looks like a miniature technical camera. I expect someday another Leica user, passing me on the trail, will berate me for what I've done to it. But the results, especially if you stitch together several files, rival a MF digital back. gpwhite Posted December 28, 2014 Share #5 Posted December 28, 2014 RRS equipment is the qualitative equivalent of Leica's equipment, IMHO. It is a bit clunkier, however, and you might find that the fit will be snug but not perfectly abutted to the bottom of the material covering on the MM body. RRS carbon tripods are fantastic.
