Banking into the wind

The eagles have finally started returning to my area in numbers.

This bird overshot a fish and decided to turn and make a second pass at it banking into the wind. Notice the tail feathers are spread to reduce its speed and aid in turning.

Looked at this lovely shot again today and I keep being reminded of this:

Dark behind it rose the forest,

Rose the black and gloomy pine trees,

Rose the firs with cones upon them;

Bright before it beat the water,

Beat the clear and sunny water

Beat the shining Big-Sea-Water.

(apologies for oozing sentiment, but I love that poem)

Dee,

Thank you, that poem is just lovely and in my mind fitting to the great birds.

Bill,

This image is another stunning example of your work with these beautiful birds.

Have you given any thought to maybe creating a book of your eagle images?

I've fairly recently done one of colour images of our family's farm (just for the family)

and using Blurb...I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the image reproductions

and of the book itself.

Hello Dee,

At present I have a few hundred eagle images. At some point I'll put some of the better images into a book form if only for my enjoyment. With enough images it could tell the story of the eagles in my region. As you might well have thought, I have a fascination with these great birds.
