leicamann Posted May 11, 2007 Share #1 Posted May 11, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well folks , the last place in North America that develops Kodachrome is closing down K64 and K25 processing at the end of 2007..this is the end of a fabulous era..you will be seeing alot of Kodachrome this year..the only real digital equivalent colorwise is the DMR. These were done with the Epson 4990 Pro..there is some loss , of course... but I think you'll agree thats pretty dam good for a flatbed. K25 is featured here.. a fabulous film. These lovely images are a suitable epitaph for that great film. In these images your lighting, colors, framing, selective focus and details are superb (I especially like the white one which is almost painfully beautiful), and as always you put the rest of us (me especially) to shame with your scanning skills and technique. lambroving Posted May 12, 2007 Share #12 Posted May 12, 2007 John, You keep raising the bar! #'s 1 & 2 are spectacular. As for KII, K25, K64, etc, I guess the chemistry is just too tricky (Hazmat). While I know you can't quite get this saturation and lushness with anything else, how close can you get with E100? I imagine nothing lasts as long as KII though... William..I would say the E100 is pure Ektachrome version of K64..the beauty of the K25 and K64 is the way the grain plays with the subtle layers and the pure independence of the color..whereas most other films tend to "bleed" the color bias into other pure colors. The grain is thought of sometimes as a disadvantage..but I disagree..used properly..the permutations are limitless..and when it comes out on a print..looks deep ,rich and gorgeous .
