Retina cameras too used a similar device, which was continuously variable. It is pretty useless for people who wear spectacles. In fact, there were different Contameters for the Contax I–II and the III, because on the III the Contameter sat in the accessory shoe on top of that high light meter housing, so its corrections for parallax had to be different.
