I took it out with Konica 135mm 3.2 Hexanon which is with me for last 25 years. Need a cheap lens to test in the rain. It didn't disappoint. Would love to hear any extra precaution needed for using it in the rain. I simply wiped it with paper towel and put in under reading lamp for some time. Welcome, dear visitor! I simply wiped it with paper towel and put in under reading lamp for some time. Those few drops should work with any camera, no need for special sealing, I think (okay, folders aside...). But yes, it is a good feeling, to know, that the M can take some water from above without problems. Rain the whole day, and the M was just about two months old last year in late summer. No problem: I took no special precautions. For some time I carried an umbrella, but it wasn't very useful, so most time I just walked in the rain, and when I wasn't shooting, I rested my arm on the M, that was hanging on a neck strap at my side.It got pretty wet, but I had no problem afterwards. The EVF is definitely not water proof. And neither is the contact for the EVF in the camera body. If you use the EVF you basically break the weather sealing of the camera. The camera body is only weather sealed when you have the protective cover with the rubber gasket inserted into the hot-shoe. If you use the EVF water drops can easily enter the camera where the EVF plugs in... And there's electricity going through that socket, meaning, you can easily get a short if water enters there! The lenses are according to Leica sealed due to the use of lubricants and the way the lenses are constructed. So according to Leica the lenses doesn't need to be weather sealed. stickan1 Posted December 2, 2014 Share #12 Posted December 2, 2014 I tested mine one morning last autumn in heavy rain and strong winds for about 20 minutes and even though I had a plastic bag for protection I got moisture in the range finder window. Not much and it disappeared in the afternoon when the sun came out. But after this experience I wouldn't use the M240 in really heavy rain, but light rain seems to be ok.
