Pessoa1 Posted November 22, 2014 Author Share #41 Posted November 22, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all, Thanks for all technical knowledge and wisdom re human nature and the dilema of choice So in the end I got: An Elmarit-M 90mm from Adorama and A Super Elmar 21mm from Adorama Had payment difficulties with an AMEX and Ben, the owner, made it work though I don't know how but it took some phone calls and he pulled it off. AND... Met the infamous Ken Hanson, and got a nice silver and black M240 at a decent used rate. and... a brand new chrome 35mm summicron from Ken as well. At a very, very decent rate. Not only that, but had a nightmare with another bank card and Ken insisted that I take the M240 and the new summicron with me - without the payment having been accepted. Yes, you read that correctly. He was adamant. He said 'you'll sort things out with your bank, take the camera and lens this will save you time and energy in having to come all the way back over town to repeat procedure.' I like to think it's because of my angelically innocent face, but I think it's more a case of Mr Hanson's niceness being no myth And thank goodness my payment was authorized later in the day. The summicron won because it was brand new at a price I couldn't say no to from Ken. Used summiluxs were twice the price of the deal I got. Do the math And as a fellow mentioned above, it's nice to get a brand new lens when you're starting out - and this one is the only brand, brand new item on my list and which I'll be using most. I'm a happy man. Thanks to all again!

I'd also suggest you stop reading here before you decide you need a 50... And a 28... And a 75... And some more 35s...
shootinglulu Posted November 26, 2014 Share #45 Posted November 26, 2014 I think you've made a fine choice. See these latest colour images made with the same camera and lens you have you lucky thing! I didn't make anything as nice with my 35 Summilux FLE on M9, it's down to your eye, composition, light ect. Enjoy! https://www.flickr.com/photos/emmanuel_smague/
Jon Warwick Posted December 2, 2014 Share #46 Posted December 2, 2014 I've used the FLE once. My overwhelming observation was similar to what I've just read above .... ie, when enlarging images on screen (shot using both M240 and MM) I was surprised / confused at what I saw, which was sharpness at the exact point where I had focused, BUT with the rest of the image seemingly waving in and out of focus almost randomly. Arguably I needed to study the lens beyond once to get it to work for me. The rendering of the FLE was nice though. But I'd take a the 50mm Summicron APO over the 35mm FLE and get a perfect combo of precision AND rendering any day.
