john neal Posted November 25, 2014 Share #61 Posted November 25, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Paul, How did you manage that? Every time I try I get the "this firmware is not compatible with this camera" message I've gone back, I've rolled my M9 back to 1.176. The random freezing in discrete mode did my head in. Advertisement Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Hi john neal, Take a look here Is there new firmware for the M9 and MM?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Ronazle Posted November 25, 2014 Share #62 Posted November 25, 2014 Discrete and soft are both modes of operation that relate to the classic role of Leica in photography. Given that, making the modes available on a Leica sized camera is absolutely valid. The problem is that the product is slightly dysfunctional in this regard; so, it would seem that Leica is obligated to fix it or at least make a sincere effort to do so. I consider this a different situation than an upgrade to some newer function which wasn't sold with the camera: discrete and soft were sold with the camera. paulholland27 Posted November 25, 2014 Share #63 Posted November 25, 2014 Paul, How did you manage that? Every time I try I get the "this firmware is not compatible with this camera" message Hi John I just dropped the m9-1_176.upd file on a SD card and popped it back in the camera. As soon as i turned the camera back on it asked me if i wanted to install the new software, selected yes, then it chugged through its usual thing.
