Last pro lab in town...

Manchester, arguably England's second city, is now down to only one pro lab offering E6 service.

A real sign of the times....

I'd better get that fridge half full of Astia run through pronto.

Try dr5 CHROME and you won't regret. l love their E6 and this is the only lab I would use for all my 120 and 35.

Andy, what's the problem? As long as there is one left in the COUNTRY, I'm fine. Even now, although my hometown (Munich) still offers several pro labs, I send my color slide films to another lab somewhere else in Germany (and have done so for years), simply because I trust this very lab and have so far never been disappointed. Return time is a few days. For me, there is certainly no need to rush through my existing stock of E6 films, instead I will happily buy new film once my stock is depleted.

Cheers,

Andy

It's not a problem per se, I just thought it was an interesting sign of the times.

I am sure that there will be postal services to process E6 for as long as E6 is sold, but it's not as convenient as dropping some films off before lunch, having lunch, then picking them up on the way back to the office after lunch. :)

I bet Snappy Snaps in Stockport don't do E6 in 90 minutes, James... If at all.

Stockport ain't WC1...

Its listed on their services - give them a call. I haven't used Snappy for E6 myself, but I was recommended to them in the first place by someone who was very happy with their slides. Probably an overnight service though I'm guessing.

Ah - it's all part of the pressure that forced / encouraged me to shift digital several years ago. First there was the problem of getting ANY reliable processing when I lived in Sri Lanka for four years. Then, when Joe's Basement closed in around 2004 I realised the writing was on the wall.

Funny thing though - I don't really miss it... scratches on negs, dust, waiting ... Digital's OK.

Andy, ditto for me too. I suppose if they closed I could start developing my own again. it's been almost twenty years since I've done any myself! But the results I get by using a pro lab and scanning the negs has really paid off so I might have to do a search for the nearest pro lab (wherever it is) if mine decides to go belly up.
