From what I have been reading, LR seems to be a better option than the Leica Image Shuttle. For those who use tethering in the field, can you please give me some advice on what you have found to be the best option for tethering with the S2.

Thank you for all you help in advance,

Arif

Well, that's not my experience, and I've used Leica Image Shuttle (now version 2.2.0) in combination with LR for well over two years with the S2, now S. As a 30+ year pro, I travel and shoot over 100 architecture assignments a year. It's far more stable than my many more year's experience with Hasselblad's Phocus, and I feel that has to do with Leica's choice to use USB instead of FW800. LIS gives you added camera control (shutter release, mirror lockup, focus, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, etc.) which is really quite seamless.

It's integration with LR (5.5 for me currently) is quite rock solid. LIS sends the capture to a designated hot folder, which then sends the file to a LR folder and on to your screen. It's a pleasure to work with on a rMBP.

One caveat. When I shoot, obviously I must physically move from shot to shot, disconnecting at the computer, then reconnecting. I leave LIS and LR running, so I make sure I shut the camera off before disconnecting the camera at the computer end, once reconnected, I then power up the S(2).

In any case this is just one man's opinion. I do love this workflow though, and so do my clients.

Thank you very much Richard, I have downloaded v. 2.2.0 and read the instructions to work with LR and will try it out. Happy to know you are satisfied with an MBP as that is what I will be using. Thanks for the tip on disconnecting the camera at the computer end when moving.

Thanks for the instructions. I gave this a go this morning with my S2 and a MBPro retina.Works very well -- especially setting the import to automatically generate 1:1 preview. Worked very well.
