I have the all-metal Leica M 21mm finder. It fits loosely in the hotshoe of my M, and I can't find any way to tighten the fit. As it is, it will fall out if I tilt the camera. I have been looking for something to wedge below the finder to tighten the fit, but wonder if anyone has come up with a more elegant solution. Thanks.

Have had that problem with other viewfinder shoes and have merely added a bit of transparent tape (a wrap sometimes) to the shoe. Add one or more layers as you deem necessary. I once coated the shoe with epoxy and that worked fine for a while. Neither fix is permanent, of course.

Once met a photographer who had added a coating of lead solder to his finder's shoe, but I fear that this would negatively effect the value of the viewfinder.

That's what I did with my 21mm OVF and it's been fine ever since. It was just fine on the M9 but a tad too loose on the M240.

Put a fine screwdriver or knife blade into the slit and widen it just a fraction. I't s very easy to overdo it so initially just expand it enough so that you can just appreciate the change.

I also had a problem with the CV 21/25 Finder on the M240. I tried "adjusting" the metal plate in the hot shoe. But still the finder is loose. Hence, I put a 3M magic tape at the bottom of the viewfinder, it worked.

I don't know why the Hot Shoe in the M240 is not that tight, since when I use the vinder in my M6 TTL, it was tight enough. Maybe because, I've been using a Thumbs Up for the past 2 years, it might have altered the Hot shoe.
