i use a set of Canon TT1 and TT5 with canon speed lights.

i have channel one set up for TTL with my Canons, and Channel 2 as a "dumb" trigger that i use with the speed lights in manual mode, with other cameras (M240, Fuji X100 etc)

you will need to use the pocket wizard utility to set one channel up in simple triggering mode, you will have no TTL, but it will fire the flashes remotely.

I have the Mini TT1 and the FlexTT5 in Nikon versions, with Nikon SB28 speed lights, and this system works without a hitch on my M240 in A and M modes, though I usually only use M.

The SB28 in "A" is thyristor controlled isnt it, not TTL ? (Uses the "magic eye" on the front of the unit to calculate flash exposure)

For what its worth, i have given up on ettl for off camera flash, i just use manual mode (on both flash and camera) i have found the auto modes werent consistent enough.

I do like the Canon RT system (600ex flash and ST-E3 transmitter) being able to control everything from the unit on top of the camera is awesome, i just wish it would work in manual mode, on other cameras (needs a canon body under it to work)

I have a Pocketwizard set up for my Nikon system - D800 with miniTT1 & three Flex TT5's on three SU910's for a small home studio. Is it possible to switch this to work on my M240?

I use the SCA adapter just fine as I must use the EVF on the camera hot shoe. PW Plus III are what I use.

Probelm with this setup is the MF grip price on top of the SCA adapter price.

I use the MiniTT1 with AC3 and FlexTT5s on Metz 58 AF1 & AF2s (Canon versions).

I love this set-up as it allows me to control flash power from the camera in M mode. I don't use A or TTL. C1 is for Manual power, C2 is for dumb trigger (like Pocketwizard plus 2s or plus 3s).

So here's a trick I accidentally uncovered whilst on a shoot with a friend of mine who uses the nikon variants of the FlexTT5 system.

I can add a FlexTT5 Nikon with a Nikon flash and still control the power from my MiniTT1 w/ AC3 Canon variant.

It appears the universal language shared is ControlTL from Pocketwizards. Which is fantastic for us non-canon/nikon shooters.

Cheerio!

ugh, i didn't need to read that !

going to have to add an AC3 to my PW setup now (hey, at least i can claim it on my tax)

thats interesting that the control TL will translate Canon to Nikon using the AC3 manual settings, i wonder if it works with their full-blown TTL setups ?

Spent a while reading up on the AC3, PWs and the SB28, and I suspect I'm still out of luck. I think the SB28s I use are just too old to remotely control the power, even with the AC3. I'll probably have to upgrade a generation. But if anyone has tried it, please tell me I'm wrong!
