I bought an XV about 4 weeks ago and whilst I am delighted with the camera-see The Rolling Road for some of my first photos like many others I have been very frustrated with my inadvertant actuation of the control pad whilst pressing the shutter release.Anyway I have found a fix which works with my hand.I bought a half case. Not an expensive crafted in a Florence workshop by artisans half case but a made in China half case off eBay.It cost A$51 and is good quality. The base of the half case marginally protrudes as a lip beyond the bottom of the camera and my hand below the thumb just rests on the case and not the camera which is enough to lift my thumb off the control pad as I actuate the shutter. It may not work for everyone but it works for me.Worth a try if you are tired of getting spurious messages as you are about to fire the shutter.

As Synergist mention above, the new firmware update addresses this issue, now, the flash button on the pad is deactivated unless flash is popped ON or external flash is used.

the half case solution you mentioned works very well, I've been using the one Leica sells since day one without any incidents with the dial pad.

PS: Pictures in the link of your blog are all fantastic.

Hi Shinglj,

I really enjoyed your website and photography. Please post more on the forum.

Terrigal and the Central Coast is such a lovely and photogenic area.

Regards,

Mark
