GFritz Posted September 18, 2014 Share #1 Posted September 18, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, just wanted to share the experience I just had as a Leica customer. I have a VERY old Trinovid binocular, I guess I bought it some time back in the early 80s. It was worn out quite a bit, with a missing ocular, loose screws, badly aligned lenses, etc. So I shipped it to Leica/Wetzlar, hoping to get the worst parts fixed and get back some ok-model that was of some use for another couple of years. They responded quickly, mentioning that they were sorry I had trouble with my Leica product... It took them 3 weeks. Yesterday in the mail I found what looked essentially like a brand new model, everything dirty or damaged being replaced, a nice new cord. But it was my old 1980s Leica bino. According to the bill they had worked on as much as 8 items, for which they calculated a 19.000% sales tax on a total of 0.00 € (remember this is in Germany). In words: Nothing. jaapv Posted September 18, 2014 Share #2 Posted September 18, 2014 I don't know about now, but Leica binoculars used to come with a lifelong warranty.
k_g_wolf ✝ Posted September 18, 2014 Share #3 Posted September 18, 2014 Great #1 post, welcome to the forum! Around 1980 the LEITZ warranty for binoculars was extendet to 30 yrs. I bought a TRINOVID about a year before that and can remember that it bothered me to have been too early ... The 8x32 TRINOVID never gave any trouble in all these years, it´s still being used regularly in my family. Best GEORG
