Spotted this interesting home built 'Leyland' car at the Peterborough Classic and Vintage Vehicle Show on September 14.

Specification:

 

1972 Leyland FG350 modified lorry chassis fitted with Tilling Stephens (Rootes Group) TS3 3.26 litre 3 cylinder opposed pistons (6 pistons) supercharged (Roots blower) 2 stroke diesel engine with one common crankshaft; 105bhp 270 ib ft torque; 5 speed gearbox; rear axle from 8.2 litre Cadillac, Mercedes truck power steering, Rover SDI adjustable steering, Fordson tractor radiator with home made radiator shell, bodywork made from Ford 100E roof panels. Engine powered Rootes 1950s Commer trucks and was developed from a smaller version of the Napier Culverin aero engine based on the Jumo Fo3 which Napier built under licence from Jumo; WW2 Junkers Ju 86 bombers used Jumo engines.

 

Owner states that the 'car' will never be completely finished.
