wattsy Posted September 10, 2014 Share #41 Posted September 10, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Personally I prefer a professional off-site backup service I do not think the Cloud is suitable for professional use. The user loses control over the data, there is no guaranty of confidentiality; Apple decides who can have access to the data and when, and there is no chain of liability. I think the discussion here is talking about the cloud in a generic sense, not Apple's particular consumer implementation of it (iCloud).

While I run my business on Macs, Apple has nothing to do with my back-up to the "cloud". I use a company called Crashplan. No connection to Apple, other than their software runs on my Macs. JohnJWhite Posted September 10, 2014 Share #43 Posted September 10, 2014 I do use Apple's Time Machine (a component of OSX) for one type of local back-up. It's very quick and easy to go back to an earlier version of a file. But Carbon Copy Cloner is also busy making back-ups daily. I've learned the hard way that multiple back-up strategies are the only way to be reasonably safe.

Unless you ship them your disks, you probably mean you prefer a professional Cloud backup service.
