dant Posted September 8, 2014 Share #1 Posted September 8, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Seems there is lots of new, used and demo stock for MM's. Have you found any deals when buying your MM? If so, how much did you save over list price?

DirkB17 Posted September 9, 2014 Share #3 Posted September 9, 2014 Maybe that´s worth a closer look https://www.meister-camera.com/hamburg/index.php?id=49&tx_commerce_pi1%5BshowUid%5D=11435&tx_commerce_pi1%5BcatUid%5D=9&cHash=220f6d881505f68d105d58684b4029dc&L=

dant Posted September 9, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted September 9, 2014 $6000/€4285 for a demo with 200 clicks and full 2-year warranty. Where did you find it?
james.liam Posted September 9, 2014 Share #6 Posted September 9, 2014 A dealer in California. He gets them in intermittently from Leica. Warranty duration seems to vary as does shutter count. Sometimes they're refurbished, at other times they've been demos that are perfectly clean and virtually unused, like this one. The Leica resellers to follow for these things are Camera West and Popflash in California as well as Kurland Camera (aka, Leica Store-SoHo) in New York City. They are the best sources for these deals but they come and go in a flash.

john neal Posted September 10, 2014 Share #8 Posted September 10, 2014 Jennifer, What about pre-owned? I recently saw one with c. 800 clicks at £4,449 in London. The balance of the Leica 2-year warranty should be available on such a new camera too. Classic Camera often have "demo" bodies in stock at reduced prices - that's where I got mine. Just a thought - if you are looking for one sub-£4,000 I think you will have to go to Hong Kong or buy a (more) used one
NikonJeff Posted September 10, 2014 Share #9 Posted September 10, 2014 I purchased a class "B" I think they called it from Englewood Camera in Colorado last August for $6900 and it came with a 2 year Leica warranty… If you can find a scales rep copy or a demo unit that should save you some money and still give you at least a 1 year warranty. Which in the US is about $5500 or so.

james.liam Posted September 10, 2014 Share #12 Posted September 10, 2014 Different, not necessarily better. Low end ISO will likely be 50, maybe 25 and high-end closer to 100k (pure speculation but the Sony α7s has set the new benchmark). The blogosphere will be awash with threads comparing the images but its a matter of taste and a willingness to wait for the usual delays before general availability, which could be as far off as late 2015. Also, any new CMOS MM will probably sell well in excess of $8000/£5300/€6000 and more than likely be housed in a mildly updated M240 body (with its limitations). I've sort of decided that a new M240 and 6 Leica lenses acquired over the past 5 months has satisfied my GAS for 2014 ...... hopefully

peterjcb Posted September 11, 2014 Share #16 Posted September 11, 2014 ...a question for the veterans here....why would Leica go over to CMOS, would it simply be a cheaper sensor to produce? I've always preferred CCD and that would be great news for me as I'm looking to acquire a used Monochrome in the future and the current CCD models would most likely come down in price....no? You make a good point that the CCD MM will come down in price if a new one comes along anytime soon. I just wonder if there can be much of a difference between a Mono CCD and a Mono CMOS. I know Phase One makes a MF Mono, but have to check if its CMOS or CCD.

algrove Posted September 12, 2014 Share #19 Posted September 12, 2014 The Phase One has a CCD. I read that too in the online specs. but they are touting a 50MP CMOS sensor in the IQ series disital backs of which the new an IQ260 achromatic back is listed. Strange to me since I get emails regularly from dealers asking me to try it our "with the new 50MP CMAS sensor".
