luigi bertolotti Posted September 23, 2014 Share #21 Posted September 23, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sorry, Ironringer, I made an incorrect statement here above ... the Elmar in the depicted version HAS NOT clck stops... at least my one (1.4xx.xxx) has not, so as my E39 (BM 1.3xx.xxx) : my only Elmars 9 with this feature are the retractable and the 3 element (both in BM). Advertisement Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Hi luigi bertolotti, Take a look here Suggest 9 cm screwmount lens for IIIf?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ironringer Posted September 24, 2014 Author Share #22 Posted September 24, 2014 That looks like the same lens I tried, although not in as clean cosmetic condition. My trial lens had no click stops for the aperture ring (continuous rotation), so maybe it needs adjustment or repair. The f-stop segments worked smoothly, however the ring moved without much resistance, felt loose. Did some mid-1950s 9 cm Elmars have no click stops, just smooth rotation of the aperture ring? Only owners will know, because I don't think this feature is described in literature.
RogerW Posted September 24, 2014 Share #23 Posted September 24, 2014 My 9 cm Elmar 836*** ( 1950) has an f-stop ring that at first seems on the loose side, but it is sufficiently firm that it cannot be accidentally rotated. No click stops. The focussing is 'tighter' and smooth. A great lens.
