It might be obvious but I am pretty polygamous when it comes to cameras. I shoot plenty of different systems Lets cut to the chase, the M240 is the camera I will pick up first unless I really need some quality of another camera, e.g. silent shutter, pocket size, long zoom (although an R adaptor and 180mm R APO are winging their way to me), etc. I can now position, focus and shoot extremely fast. It feels faster then the M9 but I can't put my finger on exactly why, perhaps its just faster ..... I occasionally make a stupid mistake (took a series of photos a few days ago and forgot to focus - just been shooting with an E-M1 and assumed that second detent was focus) but these are few and far between I don't buy into the nonsense that certain cameras are only good at certain things. All cameras can be used for everything. Its just that some are slightly more competent in certain areas where you need close to 100% of not missing the shot For sure the M series requires the photographer to work harder. It also requires the photographer to understand aperture, shutter speed, focus and focal length, but that's the Joy of shooting I carry the camera around everywhere. All weekend, every day to work and on my lunch break walk. When ready to shoot I carry it in my right hand. I find it light enough for a few hours of carrying even in my small hands and thin arms. The thumb grip next to the selection dial has been a great addition and allows me better grip for shooting I tend to jump around genre. The M240 is perfect for landscapes: Regents Park House With a high dynamic range that allows any effect you select: 20 mph Speed Limit I find the shutter extremely quiet when necessary (I sometimes just record my emotions at a moment) Claustrophobia I find the camera gets out of the way, and if I want to move fast it just works fast: Crew Change Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

colonel Posted September 7, 2014 Author Share #2 Posted September 7, 2014 As with the M9 and M8, the camera is still very unobtrusive and usually no one bats an eyelid (I do still love the red dot - not a P man myself!): 100% Vegan Turning to colour, or perhaps the absence of. I shot with an MM and the two amazing things about that camera is the (I) mid-tones and (ii) the way it holds it together to ISO 5000. However not being rich enough to own both I still think the M240 B&Ws keep blowing me away with the crispness and dynamic range: Picnic at the Lake Turning to colours, I love the punchy M240 colours. What I also like is the even nature of the colours. I have shot enough Canons (red) and Nikons (green) to know that they by design have a predilection for certain colours.
