1234 Posted September 6, 2014 Share #1 Posted September 6, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) This is using M8 & 50 Elmar, my favorite lens for nearby animals. It focuses easily and does well with blacks. Cropped to 25% of original image area. Could not see how to upload images so this is a link to Flickr page: Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Hi 1234, Take a look here 50 Elmar and a black dog. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pauledell Posted September 7, 2014 Share #2 Posted September 7, 2014 Harry, An excellent shot with great composition, colors and sharpness. A black dog is sometimes difficult to photograph well but this is lovely. We have a black Scottie named Benny that looks a lot like your subject. 1234 Posted September 8, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted September 8, 2014 Thank you Paul. I only just then met this example of the breed and was quite impressed with her disposition. She was not still for long though... I am sure you enjoy your Benny. Re the sharpness, I don't know if this Forum degrades images in its presentation or not but all of the several I viewed seemed noticeably out of focus or soft whether animal or still life. My M came back with a new sensor and it was nice but noisy by comparison to have the old M8 as a backup. Scared me as much as the subjects...

1234 Posted September 9, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted September 9, 2014 Hallo to you and thanks John - Although my own dogs are Riesenschnauzers, that particular photo was of a little Scottish Terrier met in a park. Cropping to that extent eliminated clues like her very short legs. (Other extreme was the Great Dane a few slots away.) The Scottie was the blackest dog available for some testing.
