dant Posted September 1, 2014 Share #1 Posted September 1, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'd like to use an optical 50mm finder for the MM. I can't find any except some old Leica finders on Ebay. http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NjQzWDcwMA==/z/o9cAAOxyg7xSaGFD/$T2eC16h,!y!FIdO+djo9BS,GFC38zw~~60_35.JPG Is that about it for 50mm? Advertisement Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Hi dant, Take a look here 50mm external finder. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
erl Posted September 1, 2014 Share #2 Posted September 1, 2014 That particular one looks a bit crappy, but yes, that is what you should look for IMO. I have one, in excellent condition for my 111f and it is great to use. It works equally well on my M9. Will be absolutely fine on an MM.
luigi bertolotti Posted September 1, 2014 Share #3 Posted September 1, 2014 It's the well known SBOOI.. a pleasant old accessory that is not impossible to find (my one has also its original small leather case that can be "inserted" along the camera strap... ) ; finely made, very clear : Cosina/Voigtlander made a clone of it some years ago, but I doubt it is still available. joeswe Posted September 1, 2014 Share #4 Posted September 1, 2014 "MM" ... Is that a camera? I know a German sparkling wine brand of that name. Smells like the 1950s. Which reminds me of the Voigtländer Kontur finder which is inexpensive and easy to find, and fun to use, well, that is, if you can get used to it. It is somewhat of an acquired taste. But then, it might help make your "MM" look like a real camera
pico Posted September 1, 2014 Share #5 Posted September 1, 2014 Voigtlander made a similar looking 50mm viewfinder, and while recently discontinued they are worth looking for. Straight 1:1 view, well constructed and small. Here is one - overpriced, IMHO. If you search for '50mm viewfinder' you will find Canon and other brands for half the price above. Canon's is good. I use one. .

Straight 1:1 view, well constructed and small. Here is one - overpriced, IMHO..... well... it's the "anniversary edition" for Bessa... Voigtlander even tried to copy Leica in their policy of "specials"... ... dunno if successfully https://www.cameraquest.com/voigtacc.htm#40 Brightline Finder
ph. Posted September 2, 2014 Share #7 Posted September 2, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Footnote on "Kontur" vs 12015. Two differences, one potentially decisive, one minor. The Leitz 12015 is a very clear finder for viewing through and has parallax markings for 2m. The Voigtländer Kontur is a small black box with a white frame which becomes projected into your perceived view - but consequently does block the stereo-part of your depth view. My 35mm Kontur finder has its parallax correcting (correctly smaller and displaced) frame showing the 1m situation.. p.
jbl Posted September 2, 2014 Share #8 Posted September 2, 2014 I have the SBOOI for my IIIf which is very nice. I've frequently wanted a Kontur simply for the cool factor alone. SBOOIs are pretty easy to find and are super clear and 1:1.
