Oneshot Posted August 25, 2014 Share #1 Posted August 25, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) About the new Leica T, we know that Leica may launch a full frame version (when ? 2 years ?) but what about current T lenses, can they cover the full frame or are they only designed for APS-C ? I don't find any info/test about this...
Advertisement Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Hi Oneshot, Take a look here T lenses only APS-C ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted August 25, 2014 Share #2 Posted August 25, 2014 Given the size, I am convinced they are APS-C. Which puts the unfounded rumour about a full-frame version to bed, I would say.

HI There I think there is absolutely zero chance of Leica producing a full frame T in the next 2 years, and very little chance that they'll ever do it. What is certain is that the current lenses wouldn't cover a full frame sensor (especially the zoom)
barjohn Posted August 27, 2014 Share #4 Posted August 27, 2014 Jono, While I have no idea what Leica may or may not do, it is very evident that the mount is designed to accommodate a full frame sensor. There was no need to create the mount size they created if they were only going to use it for APS-C. In fact they could have made smaller lenses more in line with the Fuji sizes if the mount had been smaller. It appears to be even larger than the Sony E Mount. jmahto Posted August 27, 2014 Share #5 Posted August 27, 2014 Isn't it possible to test whether T lens cover full frame or not? Somehow adapt them to a FF sensor in a test bench and one will know.

mjh Posted August 27, 2014 Share #7 Posted August 27, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) There was no need to create the mount size they created if they were only going to use it for APS-C. There is. I have explained this a thousand times here (also in LFI, several times in fact) so there probably is no need to repeat it.

As Michael had it - there was a reason, added to which, keeping your options open isn't the same thing as intending to do something. . . . and as far as I can see the Fuji lenses are smaller than the T lenses (can't be bothered to check though ) all the best

As we get threads like this, it seems there is. Maybe a good idea to put it in the T FAQ?

jmahto Posted August 27, 2014 Share #11 Posted August 27, 2014 What's the register distance? It should be the same distance as mounted on the camera. Isn't it. Anyway, this is academic quest. I am sure the current lens set don't cover FF (why should they). As for whether they could in future or not, who knows. Thanks to Michael for the FAQ entry describing the large rear element design requirement. I had missed that.

The lenses are NOT smaller - slightly larger I think.

vikasmg Posted September 1, 2014 Share #15 Posted September 1, 2014 :-). I went to a niece's wedding yesterday armed with an M and a T. I will post results to a web site in a day or two. I enjoyed using both tremendously but I used the T quite a bit more. Partly the zoom lens and partly the lighter weight. Both the M and T malfunctioned once each. The M froze once and the right dial on the T stopped changing aperture. Each time I didn't spend time exploring the problem. On both I removed battery reinserted it straight away and both times it worked. Did not cause me to miss pictures as it happened but it was irritating. - Vikas
