colorflow Posted May 5, 2007 Share #1 Posted May 5, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just received the Viso III I bought on eBay. However the mirror retract mechanism won't actuate when in the yellow dot position. Apparently the M8 body is tall enough so that the arm cannot be pushed down far enough to actuate the mirror retraction. I have already adjusted the screw to the highest position. I think I have the correct screw for Viso III, see attached photo. Does anyone have this problem? Is there anyway to adjust the arm or actuation position? I have checked other threads on this and seems like someone had the opposite problem with the screw being too short....??? Thanks in advance, Alan

boilerdoc Posted May 5, 2007 Share #2 Posted May 5, 2007 It should work fine. No problem with mine. Look a little closer at the innards and see if there is a reason for the problem. Steve
colorflow Posted May 5, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted May 5, 2007 Problem solved. There is a little slop depending on whether the yellow dot is set turning the knob clockwise or counterclockwise. One way it works the other way not. Thanks, Alan
sergiolov Posted May 5, 2007 Share #4 Posted May 5, 2007 The viso III was produced with two different screws. The one with the full thread is more suitable for the M8, as you con control better the mirror-shutter actuation delay. Sergio
jaapv Posted May 5, 2007 Share #5 Posted May 5, 2007 There also used to be a short screw for use on the M5. A long time ago, Leica sold an extension screw for the short version.
gilles_lorin Posted May 5, 2007 Share #6 Posted May 5, 2007 Since I am always using a tripod with the viso, I completely removed the arm so that I can fit a cable release on the shutter of the camera.

How do you flip up the mirror then?
gilles_lorin Posted May 6, 2007 Share #8 Posted May 6, 2007 How do you flip up the mirror then? Hi Jaap, I lock the mirror up with the knob beneath the arm, so I don't get any shake from the movement of the mirror when i press the shutter.
