alan.y Posted August 16, 2014 Share #1 Â Posted August 16, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I bought a bargain-price Cron-R 90 but the aperture is out of alignment: it is wide open at f/2.8 and consequently doesn't really close down to f/16. Â I've tried to fix the same problem on a Contax lens by messing with the levers and springs, but failed. R lenses require more disassembly to get to the aperture actuation mechanism. Â Does anyone know if this is an easy fix for a professional? Thanks.
Advertisement Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Hi alan.y, Take a look here Miscalibrated aperture on R lens--easy to fix?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
k-hawinkler Posted August 16, 2014 Share #2 Â Posted August 16, 2014 I would send an email with that question to DAG. http://www.dagcamera.com dagcam@chorus.net Don Goldberg

masjah Posted August 16, 2014 Share #4 Â Posted August 16, 2014 You are right. I shouldn't use this forum for questions like this. Apologies and thanks. Â Alan, on the contrary, it's a perfectly reasonable question to ask - other R users may well have also encountered this problem. Â I've had no direct experience of this problem, but I wouldn't have thought it was difficult to sort out; a question of re-adjustment more than anything else, assuming of course that there is no actual damage. But it's not something I would care to try myself!
k-hawinkler Posted August 16, 2014 Share #5 Â Posted August 16, 2014 You are right. I shouldn't use this forum for questions like this. Apologies and thanks. Â Oh, not at all. Of course, to post on this forum is fine. Although I have a handfull of R lenses I have not encountered this particular problem. However, if I did I would ask DAG to repair it for me. That's all. I just tried to be helpful. Oh well.
alan.y Posted August 16, 2014 Author Share #6 Â Posted August 16, 2014 Oh no, I knew you were being helpful and not trying to censor me or something. What I meant was that I suspect most users of this forum don't fix their own lenses (or do they?). Â I've taken apart and reassembled several of my FD and Contax lenses (just the mechanical parts and not the optical blocks of course), and enjoyed doing so as a way to learn about them. But Leicas are more valuable and also harder to take apart. At any rate the aperture mechanism if I remember correctly cannot be easily accessed from the rear, unlike in the case of FD and Contax. TomB_tx Posted August 16, 2014 Share #7 Â Posted August 16, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I also repair FL, FD, and Pentax lenses, but when I got a Leica-R 24mm with a mis-calibrated diaphragm and started to dig into it - I backtracked and sent it to DAG. He fixed it properly and quickly.
