Tom Barry Posted July 22, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 22, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) - is what The Broken Spoke used to be, before Austin, TX, became one of the fastest-growing cities in the U.S. Thanks to the Spoke's popularity, it remains as was, including the dirt parking lots front and back and the signature huge live oak tree. If you don't look left or right. Sooner rather than later, I expect the Spoke will be sacrificed to the growth gods. Here are two views, a closeup and a five-shot panorama, both with the Lumix LF-1: Welcome, dear visitor! pauledell Posted July 22, 2014 Share #2 Posted July 22, 2014 Tom, A great comparison between what it was and what it is now. Probably many old-timers are brokenhearted over the changes. Paul
Tom Barry Posted July 23, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted July 23, 2014 Yes, we are upset at many of the changes. My son worked in the kitchen at the Spoke when he was in high school. We lived only blocks away in a nice, quiet residential neighborhood. The 'hood is still there, but vastly impacted by growth. Our family - and our son's - moved out to the suburbs many years ago. where it is still relatively restful to be.
