Dytin Posted July 24, 2014 Author Share #21 Â Posted July 24, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) No Dytin: I take you at your word.Ok, you managed to afford a M-9..... but he prices of the lenses is over the top. You obviously need lenses to get started.... and in my own humble opinion get a 35mm first.... and use it. I highly recommend the Voigtlander Leica mount lenses offered by CameraQuest.... google the sight. They are affordable excellent quality lenses..... and I DO mean excellent ! Good luck Buddy! Â oh you mean that Voigtlander lens can use on Leica ,right? it's a new way for me to consider. thanks ~
Advertisement Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Hi Dytin, Take a look here Questions on M9. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Dytin Posted July 24, 2014 Author Share #22  Posted July 24, 2014 Hi Dytin. Look for a store that sells Voigtlander lenses and try out one you are comfortable with.  You won't go wrong. They are not as expensive as Leica lens and will serve well as a first lens until you become more knowledgeable.  it's a new way for me to consider. thanks ~
Guest Posted July 27, 2014 Share #23  Posted July 27, 2014 Suggest threads like this one should be highlighted by the mods. Whenever I catch them early on, I try to be one of the first five Boy Scouts. (Though for me 35mm is the too-close/too-far-lens. But getting a second hand Color-Skopar 35mm makes swapping almost lossless). Never mind: maybe have a week/month with a 2/50mm used but OK Leica/Zeiss lens, Dytin? Please keep us posted  Best regards, Simon

skinnfell Posted August 5, 2014 Share #27  Posted August 5, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have just one advice:  Get a Leica Summicron-M 50mm 1:2.0  It doesn't have to be the newest version since it has been around since 1979, and earlier versions were good too.  It's easy to find, relatively inexpensive, small, light, and 99% as sharp as the "higher" models.  Here is a link to the official page: Summicron-M 50mm f/2 // M-Lenses // M-System // Photography - Leica Camera AG  Anything else than this is going to cost you a lot of effort and even more money. Forget the lenses your friend recommended — for now. They are expensive, hard to find and might not be the right choice for your photography.  When or if you find this lens to be insufficient, then you will know WHY it is insuffient for your photography. I have five leica lenses and this one is still my main lens.
