Advertisement Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Hi chris_sanford, Take a look here Summer Arrived . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pauledell Posted July 17, 2014 Share #2 Posted July 17, 2014 Chris, A fine shot with even the mannequin looking natural. I find your version just a bit flat. Perhaps a slight adjustment in contrast. Paul
chris_sanford Posted July 17, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted July 17, 2014 Thanks, Paul; I'll give it a shot... Chris
jaapv Posted July 17, 2014 Share #4 Posted July 17, 2014 I think that the main problem is that the shadow is in the foreground. Lightening the shadows and taming highlights might make the shot more even. And the shadow contrast could use a boost. Worth trying

jaapv Posted July 17, 2014 Share #9 Posted July 17, 2014 Much better. I would set a black point too. It is a nice street photograph. Would you mind me posting my version with my workflow?

jaapv Posted July 17, 2014 Share #11 Posted July 17, 2014 First I set a black point in levels, I increased midtone contrast a bit with the middle slider Then I did a general contrast increase, about 50% I went into shadows/highlights and pulled the highlights down 100% radius 50 I went to curves and applied linear contrast. If I had had a DNG I would have done a bit of dodging and burning, for instance to bring out the customer in the stall and the other dummy. Maybe the silver and glasswork as well. As it had gone a bit softish ( working on a small web jpg) I gave it the standard sharpen. Then to remove the resulting digital look I gave it 3% of Gaussian noise and 0.3% of Gaussian blur. Hope you like it. Not offended if you hate it. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! chris_sanford Posted July 18, 2014 Author Share #12 Posted July 18, 2014 Thanks, Jaap; yep - very cool. These small jpegs are tough to wrestle with; I'm making a note of your adjustments and will go back to the DNG file and play around with it. My photoshop experience is pretty basic and I need to spend some time just "messing about". Thanks again for your time and help, Chris
